Kathog Kuntu Zangpo

(?-1694) The second pioneer Lama saint was the high priest of the Nyingma monastery of Kathog Dorjeden, and having obtained celebrity as being a perfectly accomplished lama of the Vijrayana sect, and perfectly capable of upholding and spreading of the doctrines of his sect. He came through U and Tsang and explored the northern and eastern passes leading into Sikkim, contending with great difficulties, dangers and hardships. Then he turned round and came by the western pass, viz: the Singalila pass into the interior of Sikkim and reached Yoksum Norbugang in 1642 AD.
